REQUEST FOR TUSKEGEE AIRMEN APPEARANCES
Archer-Ragsdale Arizona Chapter (ARAC)
Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI)
The State of Arizona is privileged to have among it citizens several "Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen (DOTA). The DOTAs were the first Blacks to have significant "military aviation" roles in the defense of our nation during WW II. The DOTAs, both men and women, filled every position necessary to staff a "separate" Army Air Corps Bombardment Group and a Fighter Group. These positions included commanders, pilots, aircraft and vehicle maintenance technicians, communication technicians, cooks, administration specialists, weather forecasters, lawyers, intelligence specialists, airfield operations specialists, armorers, supply specialists, military police, flight surgeons, doctors, nurses and medical technicians.
For more than 50 years, the DOTAs have been making appearances and sharing their personal experiences; telling "The Tuskegee Airmen Story" throughout America and abroad. The DOTAs frequently speak to groups such as schools, corporations, churches, governmental agencies, veteran groups, and professional and social organizations.
The ARAC Motto: "REACHING OUR YOUTH, ENSURING OUR FUTURE" is our focus. DOTAs and members of the Chapter take great pride in speaking to various groups and educational levels. "Inspiring Young People To Outstanding Achievement And Leadership In Our Democratic Society" is the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. national goal.
Only three of nine DOTAs living in Arizona are active. Because of the high demand for DOTAs and their limited availability, non-DOTA ARAC Chapter members must often make appearances instead and tell "The Tuskegee Airmen Story".
